Nebraska Firefighters Museum & Education Center is just off I-80 exit 272 at 2434 E. 1st St. The museum relates the history of firefighting in Nebraska and also provides information about fire prevention and safety. Vintage firefighting equipment from the 1870s to the 1970s, historic gear, buckets used in bucket brigades, various types of fire retardants and fire engine- and firefighter-themed toys can be seen. Children can dress up as firefighters and play on a replica fire engine. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
$6; $4 (ages 65+); $3 (ages 6-17).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. 1-5. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
