Dawson County Historical Museum is e. on US 30, then 3 blks. n. to 805 N. Taft St. Displays include a 15,000-year-old Columbian mammoth; a 1917 McCabe “Baby Biplane”; a restored 1903 Baldwin steam locomotive; and exhibits depicting the history of the U.S. military, the Oregon Trail, the Pony Express and the Plum Creek Massacre. Outdoor exhibits include a log cabin, a Union Pacific depot, a church and a one-room schoolhouse.
The museum also houses an art gallery, a library and an archives.
