Historic Haymarket District is between 7th and 9th sts. and O and R sts. This restored turn-of-the-20th-century warehouse district offers shops, boutiques, eateries and entertainment. Beginning in the 1880s as an open-air market for produce and livestock, the Haymarket grew to include the post office and Lincoln's first city hall.
This was one of the nation's first urban warehouse districts to be restored under the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
