Nebraska History Museum is at 15th and P sts. on the Centennial Mall. The museum's three floors of exhibits detail the history of Nebraska from prehistoric days to the present, featuring displays about pioneer life, politics, education and culture. Included are life-size reproductions of a Pawnee Indian earth lodge and a settler's sod house. The First Nebraskans exhibit depicts the history of the Plains Indians. Other highlights include a 1900s general store, a tribute to Nebraskans who fought in World War II, Nebraska Joins the Union and Building the State 1867-1916. Investigation Station is an interactive, hands-on exhibit for children. Changing exhibits also are offered. Special events and educational programs are held throughout the year. Note: The museum is closed for renovations and is scheduled to reopen in spring of 2016. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
