Ponca State Park is 2 mi. n. off SR 12 on Spur 26E, following signs. The 2,166-acre park features an unchannelized and untamed portion of the Missouri River, allowing visitors to see what the river was like before man's intervention. The park is heavily forested and is home to deer, turkeys, foxes, coyotes and owls.
More than 20 miles of hiking and bicycling trails, a swimming pool, horseback rides, boating and fishing are among the recreational opportunities, and an interpretive center has exhibits about the river and area flora, fauna and fossils.
Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
