Carson Hot Springs Resort is at 1500 Old Hot Springs Rd.; take the College Pkwy. exit off US 395, go just e. on College Pkwy., just n. on Research Way, then just w. In operation since 1849, this resort complex features a large mineral pool where water flows out of the ground at a temperature of 121 F. Originating from deep below Earth's surface, the water contains sodium, sulfate, chloride, potassium and other therapeutic elements. The site was used in its natural state by Washoe Indians and later by emigrants and pioneers before Thomas Swift purchased the springs in 1880, building bathhouses, a clubhouse and a hotel.

The outdoor swimming pool is maintained at 98 F in summer, 102 F in winter. Massage services are available, and a restaurant, bar and nightclub are on the premises.

Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
