Tahoe Science Center is at 291 Country Club Dr. on the Sierra Nevada College campus. Located on the first floor of the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences building, the science center features interactive science exhibits, including one about Lake Tahoe. Visitors can step aboard a virtual research vessel to see how water quality is studied, check out a virtual lab with microscopic zooplankton, and manipulate topography in an interactive sandbox to see how watersheds work. Video presentations include 3-D movies (each 16 minutes) “Lake Tahoe in Depth” and “Mapping Change,” which takes a look at Sierra forests, as well as 3-D visualization models of Lake Tahoe and Earth.
The center showcases sustainable design, construction and landscaping. Tours of the LEED Platinum-certified building are available by reservation.
