DISCOVERY Children's Museum is at 360 Promenade Pl., in the Donald W. Reynolds Discovery Center in Symphony Park on The Smith Center campus. The three-story facility contains nine hands-on exhibits about science, arts and early childhood development.
Among the interactive exhibits are a 70-foot, 12-level jungle gym, a water play area that teaches about the movement of water and a pirate ship where puppet shows take place. In Solve It!, children are given clues and have to investigate and solve a mystery. Another exhibit focuses on nutrition and explains how food portion sizes and physical activity are integral to a healthy lifestyle. There's also a padded, desert-themed play area for toddlers. Traveling exhibits also are offered.
Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
