Excalibur Hotel & Casino is at 3850 Las Vegas Blvd. S. (just s. of Tropicana Ave.). In the days of yore (like, 1990), when Vegas was promoting itself as a family-friendly destination, this cartoonish Arthurian castle set the bar for themed-resort silliness. Red and blue spires top Excalibur's massive white, turreted castle; two huge hotel towers rise behind it. Out front, lords and ladies reach the main casino entrance by crossing a medieval drawbridge complete with period-authentic, people mover conveyor belts.
The sword-and-sorcery theme is carried out in the casino with coats of arms on the walls, decorative turrets and “Camelot”-inspired stained glass panels. On the lower level below the casino you'll find the kid-geared Fun Dungeon, which features video and carnival midway games. Shows at the resort include Tournament of Kings, a Medieval Times-type dinner show with jousting and all kinds of action befitting the Middle Ages. There's also Thunder From Down Under, an Australian male revue starring strapping knights minus their shining armor, and tribute act The Australian Bee Gees, who will be "stayin' alive" on the Excalibur stage through 2018.
Castle Walk, a shopping arcade on the second floor, is the place to procure souvenirs, toys for the tots and Renaissance Faire-type gifts (think dragon figurines and wizard hats).
Food is available.
