Marjorie Barrick Museum, near jct. Swenson and Harmon sts. on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus, houses two galleries. The Michael C. Mannetta Braunstein Gallery focuses on the cultural history of Latin American art and includes rotating pre-Columbian objects, Guatemalan and Bolivian textiles, Mexican dance masks, and Navajo baskets and jewelry. The Teaching Gallery is devoted to rotating contemporary painting, photography and sculpture and additional pre-Columbian works. The Xeric Garden features drought-resistant plants from deserts around the world.
Performances, lectures and films also are presented throughout the year.
