Animal Ark is off US 395 exit 78, 11.5 mi. e. on Red Rock Rd., then 1 mi. s. on Deerlodge Rd. This wildlife sanctuary in the rural hills north of Reno shelters North American predators and exotic animals that are unable to survive on their own in the wild. Bears, birds of prey, bobcats, cheetahs, lynxes, mountain lions, wolves and a jaguar are among the sanctuary's many residents. A visitor center shows videos and has a display about the site's alternative energy use. Special events, educational programs and demonstrations are offered. A children's playground also is on site.
