Nevada Historical Society Museum is at 1650 N. Virginia St. Founded in 1904, the state's oldest museum chronicles Nevada history. Displays feature Native American basketry, pottery and artifacts; pioneer and mining artifacts; Reno history; and gaming souvenirs and a neon sign. A research library contains records dating from 1859. Guided tours are available.
$5; free (ages 0-17).
Hours: Museum Tues.-Sat. 10-4:30. Library Wed.-Sat. noon-4. Guided gallery tours are offered Jan.-July; phone for schedule. Closed major holidays and during University of Nevada home football games.
