AAA Editor Notes
Piper's Opera House, at B and Union sts., witnessed the coming of age of many traveling players following its construction in the 1880s. Such greats as Maude Adams, Wilson Barrett, David Belasco, Edwin Booth, Lotta Crabtree and Adah Isaacs Menken performed for the bonanza kings of Comstock silver wealth. Features include original 19th-century scenery and a suspended balcony as well as playbills, posters, photographs and other theater memorabilia.
The opera house is used as a performance venue throughout the year.
