AAA Editor Notes
Roosevelt Campobello International Park is linked to the U.S. mainland by the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Bridge at Lubec, Maine, and also can be reached by ferry from Deer Island, New Brunswick from June through September. The focal point of the 1,134-hectare (2,802-acre) memorial is a 34-room “cottage” occupied between 1905 and 1921 by the soon-to-be president and his family. The house contains original furniture, photographs, toys and other items belonging to the Roosevelts.
The visitor center has one exhibit about the Roosevelts' history and another about the friendship between the U.S. and Canada. A 15-minute film tells the story of the Roosevelts' lives on Campobello Island. The park's natural areas feature scenic drives and walking trails along coves, bogs, beaches and cliffs.
Note: The park is in the Atlantic time zone, 1 hour ahead of the Eastern time zone. The hours listed are in Eastern daylight time.
Picnicking is permitted.
