AAA Editor Notes
Saint John City Market is at 47 Charlotte St. (opposite the n.w. corner of King's Sq.). One of Canada's oldest markets, it opened for business in 1830. Given that 19th-century Saint John was a leading shipbuilding center, it stands to reason that the building's hand-hewn ceiling timbers resemble the inverted hull of a ship. Vendors sell fresh seafood, meats, produce, cheeses, coffee and baked goods, and you can also browse for locally made handicrafts and nosh on international delicacies at a variety of restaurants.
