McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, 2 Institute Dr., is said to be New England's largest air and space museum. Dedicated to New Hampshire astronauts Christa McAuliffe and Alan Shepard, the center features state-of-the-art interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, and Earth and space sciences. Visitors can enjoy the planetarium, Earth and Planetary Sciences Gallery, special traveling exhibits and educational programs. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$10; $9 (ages 62+ and students with ID); $7 (ages 3-12). Planetarium additional $5. Prices may vary; phone ahead.
Hours: Daily 10:30-4 (also first Fri. of the month 6:30-9:30 p.m.), July 1-day before Labor Day and during school vacations; Fri.-Sun. 10:30-4 (also first Fri. of the month 6:30-9:30 p.m.), rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
