AAA Editor Notes
Dartmouth College is centered on the Dartmouth Green at E. Wheelock St. Founded in 1769, Dartmouth is the ninth-oldest college in the nation and the northernmost of the eight Ivy League institutions.

From one log hut built by Rev. Eleazar Wheelock in 1770, the campus has grown to include many structures in several architectural styles. Notable Dartmouth Row includes four of the college's earliest buildings, the oldest of which dates from 1828. The Black Family Visual Arts Center is an example of the modern use of architecture.

Dartmouth’s Arts and Innovation district includes the Hood Museum of Art, the Hopkins Center for the Arts, and the Black Family Visual Arts Center which feature exhibitions, talks, live performances (music, theater and dance), film screenings and educational programs for the public. .
