The Currier Museum of Art, 150 Ash St., is in a 1929 Beaux Arts building reminiscent of an Italian Renaissance palace. A complementary modern addition was built in 2008. The museum showcases an internationally respected collection of European and American paintings, sculpture and decorative arts from the 13th century to the present. More than 11,000 objects are displayed, including works by Frank Stella, John Marin, Winslow Homer, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, Pablo Picasso and Andrew Wyeth. Also included are American furniture and works by New Hampshire artists and craftsmen. Changing exhibitions, lectures and concerts are offered. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
$15; $13 (ages 65+); $10 (students ages 18+ with ID); $5 (ages 13-17); free (ages 0-12 and to New Hampshire residents 2nd Sat. of the month 10-noon). Combination ticket with Zimmerman House $20; $19 (ages 65+); $16 (students with ID); $8 (ages 7-17). Ages 0-6 are not permitted on Zimmerman House tour.
Hours: Sun.-Mon. and Wed.-Fri. 11-5, Sat. 10-5. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
