Batsto Historic Village is off CR 542 on Batsto Rd. This restored 19th-century village within Wharton State Forest grew up around the Batsto Iron Works. Buildings include an iron master's mansion, a sawmill, a church, a gristmill, a general store, an icehouse, a post office and workers' houses. The visitor center houses a museum with permanent and changing historical exhibits. Visitors can take a smartphone audio/video tour.

Picnicking is permitted.

Grounds and visitor center free. Mansion tour $3; $1 (ages 6-11).

Sat.-Sun. and holidays $5, Memorial Day-Labor Day.
Hours
Grounds daily dawn-dusk. Visitor center open daily 9-4. Mansion tours are given when staff is available. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas and state holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 2 hours minimum.
