Classic. Long considered the king of New Jersey diners—no small status in this diner-rich state—this 1949 eatery was a pioneer in diner design. Although fully renovated with a modern chrome facade, the original rooftop clock, with the words “eat heavy” aglow in neon, remains unchanged. It still holds sway over patrons who stop in at all hours for their fix of classic diner grub, including hefty sandwiches, great burgers, lumberjack breakfasts and sinfully rich desserts. It’s a New Jersey Classic, indeed.
