Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center is 3 mi. n.e. on Pequest Rd. More than 600,000 trout are raised for release into state waters. Visitors learn about egg collection, fertilization and hatching. “Raceways,” large concrete tanks, hold smaller fish until they are ready for release.
A brochure detailing a short, self-guiding tour of the grounds is available. River fishing and hiking also can be enjoyed.
Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
