Lambert Castle Museum is off I-80 exit 57, then s. on SR 19 to 3 Valley Rd. Built in 1892 by Catholina Lambert, a silk mill owner, the 24-room stone mansion houses the Passaic County Historical Society Museum. Furnishings, textiles, costumes and works of art include original family pieces. Period rooms are adorned with ornate plaster moldings, carved fireplace mantels and stained glass.
Permanent and changing exhibits about the county's history also are featured.
Hours: Wed.-Sun. noon-4, Memorial Day-Labor Day; 1-4, day after Labor Day-early Nov. and late Nov.-day before Memorial Day, rest of year. A Holiday Boutique takes place Wed.-Fri. 10-8, Sat.-Sun. 10-5, early to late Nov. Closed major holidays. Allow 1 hour minimum.
