The Wetlands Institute is 3 mi. e. of Garden State Pkwy. exit 10 on CR 657 to 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd. Dedicated to promoting appreciation, understanding and stewardship of wetlands and coastal ecosystems through programs in research, conservation and education, this facility features aquariums, a live turtle observation station and a horseshoe crab aquaculture display. Visitors can walk along a salt marsh trail and view the marsh from an elevated walkway. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$8; $6 (ages 3-11).
Hours: Daily 9:30-4:30 (also Tues.-Thurs. 4:30-8, mid-June through Labor Day), early May to mid-Oct.; Fri.-Sun. 9:30-4:30, rest of year. Closed Dec. 23–Jan 2.; phone for holiday closures rest of year.
