Edison National Historic Site/not available
AAA Editor Notes
Thomas Edison National Historical Park is at Main St. and Lakeside Ave. The Laboratory Complex includes 14 structures, many of which contain their original furnishings. The collection of 400,000-plus artifacts includes Edison's prototype and commercial inventions. The archives house millions of documents, sound recordings, rare books and photographs.

Most notable inside Glenmont, where Edison and wife Mina Miller Edison lived, is the second-floor living room. Here Edison often conceived inventions at his “thought bench.” A greenhouse, barn, stables and garage stand on the landscaped grounds as well as the couple's graves.

Video cameras and strollers are not allowed on tours.
