Wildlife West Nature Park is off I-40 exit 187 to 87 N. Frontage Rd. The 122-acre native wildlife zoo contains animals and plants native to New Mexico. Trails allow visitors to see elk, black bears, Mexican wolves, mountain lions, pronghorn antelope, foxes, raccoons, raptors and other birds and wildlife. Hayrides are offered Saturday summer evenings prior to the Chuckwagon Dinner Show, which features barbecue and Western musical entertainment. Several festivals are offered throughout the year. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
$9; $7 (ages 60+); $5 (ages 5-11). Dinner show $25; $23 (ages 60+); $12 (ages 5-11); reservations required by 2 p.m. on day of show.
Hours: Park daily 10-6, mid-Mar. to early Nov.; noon-4, rest of year. Dinner show is offered Sat. at 6 p.m., mid-June through Labor Day.
