AAA Editor Notes
Jémez Historic Site is 1 mi. n. on SR 4. The site preserves the 700-year-old stone ruins of Giusewa Pueblo, ancestral home of the present-day Jémez people. About 1621 the Spanish built the fortress-like San Jose de los Jémez Mission; its massive walls still stand. A visitor center offers interpretive history exhibits and information about self-guiding tours.

Special events are scheduled throughout the year.
