Seward House Museum, 33 South St., was the home of the secretary of state under Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. It contains original family furnishings, decorative arts and mementos of William H. Seward's career. A painting by Emanuel Leutze depicts Seward's negotiations for the purchase of Alaska. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$10; $9 (ages 60+ and military with ID); $5 (students with ID); free (ages 0-6).
Hours: Guided tours depart on the hour Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. 1-5, June-Aug.; Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Mar.-May and Sept.-Dec. Last tour departs 1 hour before closing; 2 hours on the first Fri. of the month, Apr.-Nov. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
