Bear Mountain State Park is 5 mi. s. off US 9W. The George W. Perkins Memorial Drive winds to the 3,106-foot summit of Bear Mountain, where a tower and observation deck provide views of four states and the Hudson River Valley. The swimming pool and carousel are popular summer activities; cross-country skiing and ice skating are permitted in winter. Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
Park admission $8 (per private vehicle). Swimming pool $2; $1 (ages 0-12). Carousel $1. Ice skating $5; $4 (ages 4-11); $2 (ages 65+ and observers). Ice skate rentals $4.
Hours: Park daily 8-dusk. Drive daily 8-dusk (weather permitting), Apr.-Nov. Tower daily 9-4. Carousel Wed.-Sun. 10-5, late June-Labor Day; Sat.-Sun. 10-5, rest of year. Swimming pool Mon.-Fri. 10-5:30, Sat.-Sun. and holidays 11-6:30, July-Aug. and Labor Day weekend.
