AAA Editor Notes
Catskill Forest Preserve comprises approximately 300,000 acres in the Catskill Mountains. It is particularly beautiful in June when the laurel trees bloom and in October when the leaves turn color. Slide Mountain, with a height of 4,180 feet, is the highest point in the preserve. The preserve also is the location of Beaver Kill, Esopus, Neversink and Willowemoc, four of the best fishing streams in the state. For information about the preserve, visit the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center at 5096 SR 28 in Mount Tremper.
