American Airpower Museum is at 1230 New Hwy. at Republic Airport; from I-495 (Long Island Expressway) exit 49, s. on SR 110 to SR 24 (Conklin St.), then e. on SR 24 to New Hwy. and s. on New Hwy. to the museum. Displayed in World War II-era hangars are various warplanes, including a B-25 Mitchell bomber, a Corsair, a P-40 and a PBY patrol plane. Exhibits offer a tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen and Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP).

The museum also offers a “flight experience” that allows visitors to don the uniform of a World War II airborne trooper and fly on a C-47 that participated in the Battle of Normandy in 1944. Other flight experiences include a Waco biplane from the Golden Days of Aviation and a North American T-6 World War II trainer.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
