Pros: Staff was knowledgable and friendly and professional. Rooms were extremely clean. Bed and pillows were like floating on a cloud. Best buffet breakfast ever, lots of choices. Hotel was close enough to various sightseeing experiences. I absolutely loved my entire stay there.

Pros: Staff was great and the proximity to West Point is good. I like staying in a brand property because one knows what to expect. There was a large, easy-to-use television, adequate plugs next to the bed and a full-length mirror. We've stayed in the West Point area for years and find the Thayer Hotel to be exorbitant and in desperate need of updating. At least the price here is only over-priced and not ridiculous.
Cons: This hotel is tired... the carpet is not in good shape, there are chips out of the veneer around the mirror, there are still "kindergarten" toilets (you know, those short commodes made for people who are 4 feet tall), the caulk in many places (the room, the hall, the elevator, etc.) is loose, had fallen out or painted over so often that it cracked, and the shower doesn't drain properly. (I dislike standing in shower water. This one didn't drain before I'd finished toweling off.) Overall lighting in the room is not great.

Pros: Check-in was a breeze as they had my reservation. My room was quite spacious with 2 Queen beds, desk, tele, and refrigerator. The bed was very comfy and the pillows were marvelous. The bath was well appointed.
When I inquired about some place to eat and get a drink the desk staff told me about a nice BBQ restaurant just off the property. Marvelous! The food was outstanding, beer selection great and service very good and friendly. Highly recommended. The complimentary breakfast was delicious! Lots of variety.
In sum, this venue is highly recommended for any travelers visiting the Military Academy or the beautiful sights in and around Storm King mountain or Bear Mountain State Park.
Cons: An in house bar would be nice.

Cons: I had reserved two rooms. When I checked in, the clerk only had me down for one room. He blamed the problem on the third party through whom I made the reservation.
More importantly, I was billed for an additional day -- in addition to two rooms for two days. Again, this is a screw-up at the front desk. I've objected to this error in a mailing to American Express. If for some reason I am forced to pay for an additional one day on a third room, my rating would plummet to "zero".
I'm hopeful this error will be recognized.

Pros: We had an event at the Academy. It was a perfect location, only 5 minutes away.
Cons: Only negative was it was,slightly noisy. A train went by until about 11:30 pm and started again first thing in morning. I could also hear our very loud neighbors very clearly through the walls as we were trying to sleep.

Cons: Full length wall mirror was missing in one room. The shower head was low for our guys over 6 feet tall. Missed the make your own waffles..but there was plenty to eat without. A gluten free bread offering would be nice.

Pros: We checked it rather late and we hungry upon arrival. The location was in a rural area and we were having trouble finding something to eat. Mary was very helpful and was calling restaurants to see if they were open ,offered us bagels and even made us a goody bag of water and nuts to tide us over until our pizza order was delivered.She went way above what we expected for customer service.
Cons: We were staying there to go outlet shopping and the hotel was about 20 minutes away but in a very remote area that was hard to navigate.
