Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs, off I-90 exits 27 or 28, on SR 5S, is the site of the Mohawk village of Ossernenon, where St. Isaac Jogues and his two companions were martyred in the 1640s. It also is the birthplace of St. Kateri Tekakwitha, a Native American maiden. On the 400-acre grounds are a 6,500-seat coliseum church, chapels, museums and gardens.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
