Clermont State Historic Site, 4 mi. s. on SR 9G, then 1 mi. w. on CR 6 following signs, comprises the 500-acre Hudson River estate of Chancellor Robert R. Livingston, delegate to the second Continental Congress and member of the committee to draft the Declaration of Independence. The original circa 1740 mansion was burned by the British in 1777 and rebuilt 1779-82. The grounds contain historical nature trails and restored formal gardens. Guided tours are available.
Grounds free Mon.-Fri.; $5 per vehicle, Sat.-Sun. and Mon. holidays 11-4, Apr.-Oct.; free rest of year. Mansion tour $5; $4 (senior citizens and students with ID); free (ages 0-12).
Hours: Grounds open daily 8:30-dusk. Visitor center open Wed.-Sun. and Mon. holidays 10:30-4, Apr.-Oct.; Sat.-Sun. 10:30-3, Nov.-Dec. Guided mansion tours are given Wed.-Sun. and Mon. holidays 11-4, Apr.-Oct.; Sat.-Sun. 11-3, Nov.-Dec.
