Olana State Historic Site is off New York State Thruway (I-87) exit 21 to SR 23E, then 1 mi. s. to 5720 SR 9G. The Victorian estate was the home of Frederic Edwin Church, landscape painter of the Hudson River School. The mansion, built 1870-76 in the Persian style, commands a view of the Hudson River Valley and the Catskills. The visitor center offers a film and exhibit about Olana. The Evelyn and Maurice Sharp Gallery features changing art exhibits. Recreational opportunities on the grounds include hiking and snowshoeing.

Guided tours are available. Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
