Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site is 2 mi. n. on US 9 from the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. This 1898 mansion exemplifies the elegance of Beaux-Arts architecture during the late 19th-century “Gilded Age.” Known as an “American country place,” it is adorned with original French and Italian furnishings, Flemish tapestries and exquisite Oriental rugs.
