Audubon Community Nature Center, 2 mi. s. on SR 60, 3 mi. s. on US 62, then .5 mi. e. to 1600 Riverside Rd., is a 600-acre wetland preserve with more than 5 miles of trails, a native tree arboretum and educational gardens. Liberty, a bald eagle, is on display. Towers and overlooks afford views of wildlife habitats. A nature center has hands-on exhibits, live animals and more than 200 mounted bird specimens. Picnic table are available. Picnicking is permitted.
Grounds free. Nature center $6; free (ages 0-15 and to all on Sun.).
Hours: Grounds daily dawn-dusk. Nature center Mon.-Sat. 10-4:30, Sun. 1-4:30, Mar.-Oct.; Sun.-Fri. 1-4:30, Sat. 10-4:30, rest of year. Closed major holidays. Allow 1 hour minimum.
