Audubon Nature Center, 2 mi. s. on SR 60, 3 mi. s. on US 62, then .5 mi. e. to 1600 Riverside Rd., is a 600-acre wildlife sanctuary with 5 miles of nature trails through wetlands, fields and forests. Also featured are an arboretum, a bald eagle enclosure, an herb and butterfly garden, and towers and overlooks for viewing wildlife habitats. A nature center has hands-on exhibits and more than 200 mounted bird specimens. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Grounds free. Nature center $6; free (ages 0-15 and to all on Sun.).
Hours: Grounds daily dawn-dusk. Nature center Mon.-Sat. 10-4:30, Sun. 1-4:30, Mar.-Oct.; Mon.-Fri. 10-1, Sat. 10-4:30, Sun. 1-4:30, rest of year. Closed major holidays.
