The History Museum, Lake Placid/North Elba Historical Society, 242 Station St., chronicles Lake Placid's history over the last 200 years. The waiting and baggage rooms of this former train depot display rotating exhibits; the general store room features exhibits about early village life. Records and photographs displayed in the Kate Smith Room highlight her life and time spent in Lake Placid during the summers. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
