Power Vista is 4.5 mi. n. of the falls on US 104, or reached from Robert Moses Pkwy. N. following signs. The Niagara Power Project's visitor center features more than 50 interactive exhibits explaining the development of hydroelectricity in the Niagara area. The Electric Lab features an operating model of a hydropower turbine. Modern energy efficiency is demonstrated in a Victorian house setting. A large-scale terrain map provides a geographic overview of the Niagara Project, the source of one-seventh of the state's power. Just steps away, an outdoor observation deck 350 feet above the Niagara River affords views of the gorge and power plant. The Times of the Tuscarora features Native American artifacts. Other exhibits highlight solar power, electric vehicles and local history. A mural by Thomas Hart Benton depicts Father Louis Hennepin viewing the falls for the first time.
