Lockport Cave and Underground Boat Ride departs from the ticket office at 5 Gooding St. Tour activities include exploring the Erie Canal locks, viewing industrial ruins, the original Flight of Five locks built in the 1840s, walking through a 1,600-foot tunnel blasted out of solid rock in the mid-1800s, and riding a boat on an underground waterway. Tunnel features include stalactites, flowstone, geological formations and workmen's artifacts. Cave temperature is 65 degrees Fahrenheit; wind breakers or sweatshirts are recommended. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Fare $15; $10 (ages 6-14); $3 (ages 0-5).
Hours: Tours depart daily every half-hour 10-5, mid-June through Labor Day; Mon.-Fri. at 11, 1 and 3, Sat.-Sun. on the hour 10-5, mid-May to mid-June; Mon.-Fri. at 11, 1 and 3, Sat.-Sun. on the hour 10-4, day after Labor Day-Oct. 31. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
