Lockport Locks and Erie Canal Cruises

Lockport Locks and Erie Canal Cruises depart from a restored 1840s stone warehouse at 210 Market St. off SR 31. Narrated Erie Canal cruises take passengers past the original 1800s locks, under an inverted trestle bridge and lift bridges, alongside the original towpath and through a rock cut. The boat passes through working locks, where it is locked up (raised) 50 feet to overcome the difference in elevation of the Niagara Escarpment; locking down is experienced on the return trip.
