Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center is 4.4 mi. n.e. on SR 131 (through the Eisenhower Lock tunnel) from jct. SR 37 and SR 131, following signs to 21 Hawkins Point Rd. The visitor center has more than 20 exhibits, including a terrain map displaying the St. Lawrence River's course.
Exhibits, audiovisual presentations, interactive displays and a film detail the construction of this cross-border hydroelectric dam, energy production, green technologies and energy conservation. Visitors can also pedal a bicycle generator and create electricity. Sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River, the Canadian riverfront and the New York Power Authority's St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project can be seen from the visitors center.
Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
