MetLife Building stands next to the Grand Central Terminal at 200 Park Ave. At 59 stories and 808 feet, it is one of the city's tallest and largest office buildings, and its lozenge shape makes it a prominent part of the New York skyline. It was called the Pan Am Building when it opened in 1963; owner Pan American World Airways sold the building to the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1981, who renamed it the MetLife Building.
