Museum of Arts & Design, 2 Columbus Cir., specializes in 20th- and 21st-century art, crafts and design by artists such as Frank Gehry, Sheila Hicks, George Nakashima, Nendo and Marcel Wanders. The permanent collection of more than 2,000 pieces features works in such media as clay, glass, wood, metal and fiber as well as jewelry from the post-World War II era to the present and more than 100 quilts from around the world. Visitors can observe the work of artists in residence at the facility's three open studios. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.

Hours: Tues.-Sun. 10-6 (also Thurs.-Fri. 6-9 p.m.). Tours are given Tues.-Sun. at 11:30 and 3; Thurs.-Fri. at 1:30, 3 and 6:30. Closed major holidays.
