Museum of the City of New York, Fifth Ave. and 103rd to 104th sts., educates the public about the city's heritage of diversity, opportunity and perpetual transformation. Ongoing exhibitions include Activist New York, which tells the story of activism up to the Occupy Wall Street movement. Timescapes, a 22-minute multimedia experience, traces the growth of the city from a settlement of a few hundred to its status as one of the world's great cities. Temporary exhibits and educational and entertainment programs also are offered.
$10; $6 (ages 65+ and students with ID); $20 (family); free (ages 0-12).
Hours: Daily 10-6. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
