Shearwater departs from the s. side of North Cove Marina on the Hudson River, bounded by Vesey and Liberty sts. at Brookfield Place in Battery Park City. The 1929 Shearwater is an 82-foot double-masted schooner or sailing yacht that provides 1-2 hour sailing trips in New York Harbor. Passengers are afforded spectacular vistas of lower Manhattan; the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Brooklyn Bridge can be seen at a distance. A large teak deck features comfortable seating areas. The interior is appointed with exotic hardwoods, a spiral staircase, staterooms filled with period furnishings and a salon with a fireplace. Daytime, brunch, sunset, evening, happy hour and wine-tasting cruises are available. Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours, 15 minutes minimum.
Daytime or City Lights sails $45; $38 (ages 65+); $25 (ages 3-12); $15 (ages 0-2). Champagne Brunch or Wine Tasting sails $95; $87 (ages 65+); $45 (ages 3-12); $30 (ages 0-2). Sunset Sail $50; $38 (ages 65+); $25 (ages 3-12); $15 (ages 0-2). Happy Hour Sail $25; ages 0-20 not permitted. Reservations are required.
