Studio Museum in Harlem is at 144 W. 125th St. between Lenox Ave. and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. (7th Ave.). The museum showcases works by African-American artists in changing exhibits drawn from a permanent collection of more than 1,600 paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and mixed-media compositions. Archives contain James VanDerZee's photographs chronicling life in Harlem 1906-84. Performance arts and traveling exhibitions also are offered.
