The Jewish Museum, 1109 Fifth Ave. at 92nd St., explores 4,000 years of Jewish art, history and culture. The permanent collection, comprising more than 30,000 archeological artifacts, ceremonial objects, artwork, photographs, video and interactive media, tells an unfolding and ongoing cultural story that is a backdrop to the search for Jewish identity. The museum also presents changing special exhibitions that examine all facets of the Jewish experience. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
$15; $12 (ages 65+); $7.50 (students with ID); by donation (Thurs. 5:45-8); free (ages 0-18, to all Thurs. 5-8 and all day Sat.).
Hours: Sat.-Tues. and Thurs. 11-5:45 (also Thurs. 5:45-8), Fri. 11-4. Closed Jan. 1, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Thanksgiving and major Jewish holidays.
