Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site, 28 E. 20th St. between Park Ave. S. and Broadway , is the reconstructed boyhood home of the only United States president born in New York City. It was his home 1858-72. Galleries and 1865-period rooms relate the story of young Teddy. The three floors contain items pertaining to Roosevelt's youth, ranch life, presidency and exploring days. Note: The site is closed while undergoing renovations and will reopen in early autumn 2016. Guided tours are available.

Hours: Grounds open Tues.-Sat. 9-5. Guided tours depart on the hour Tues.-Sat. at 10, 11, 1, 2, 3 and 4. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
