AAA Inspector Notes
The enchanted days of a glamorous, culturally ascendant New York echo from every corner. Music, theater and literary history resonate from the walls of this stylish hotel, much as a lovely afterglow. Exquisitely renovated in 2013, the lobby spaces still have the same grand style, but the rooms take a different turn with a slightly more whimsical and contemporary décor. Rooms can vary in size, but a deluxe queen offers good floor space. The hotel is still known for its food and beverage offerings: the famous Round Table restaurant and the lobby lounge are perfect spots to sip a cocktail and people watch, while the Blue Bar is a classic, upscale Manhattan cocktail lounge. In keeping with its literary tradition, this hotel hosts some appearances and readings from well-known authors. Smoke free premises. 181 units. 12 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: History, decor, lobby bar and restaursnt
Cons: Only 1 elevator was working. To get coffee you have to walk down (for us) 6 flights if you did not want to wait a long time do I recommend each floor have a coffee station set up. Why they did not do that is beyond me as no rooms have coffee makers. Staff very good

Pros: Service, atmosphere, very comfortable bec
Cons: This is a grand old hotel with considerable charm. But there was no hot water between 8 pm and 7:30 am! This was awkward as we had to check out shortly after 8 AM for appointments. Staff was apologetic, but that didn't compensate for inconvenience.

Pros: Good location, historic character, helpful staff. The doorman loaned us umbrellas when the weather was poor.
Cons: The lower windows of the room were frosted, and the upper windows looked out to a brick wall. I didn't expect a view, but having some sky visible (or, ANYTHING) would have been nice.

Pros: The location was great for visiting midtown.
Cons: The room was the size of a shoebox! It consisted of a double bed; that's it! The bathroom was located in a closet.
