AAA Inspector Notes
Rooms at this sleek property feature glass closets, high-tech accessories and fairly large bathrooms with designer marble finishes and huge walk-in showers. A calm business-like mood pervades. This hotel offers the luxury boutique experience but with some interactive twists that stray from the traditional hotel model. There is no front desk, and the staff is made up of well-trained "hosts" who take care of all your needs. The lively bar features communal tables and a wide-open design, where you may feel like you're right in the kitchen or behind the bar watching staff create unique cocktails and tapas. Popular with business people during the week and leisure travelers on the weekend, some rooms feature stunning views to the landmark New York Public Library facade. Smoke free premises. 184 units, some two bedrooms. 14 stories, interior corridors. Bath: shower only. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: If you need to be in midtown, the location is good. Very central. The bathrooms are nicely done.
Cons: The rooms were bare. Not one painting on the walls, bare floors, no rugs or side lights or any decoration. Felt empty and unfinished. Room was worn, frayed carpet, stained couch, dirty walls, dust all over the tops of things. Needed a good clean and a fresh coat of paint. When we checked in we were not taken to our room but just given keys. The room was not the level we had booked, was an openplan studio, not 1 bedroom suite. They did change us but without an apology and again no customer service.

Pros: I like the location, the room and the facilities. In general service is not bad, supporting staff - house keeping, meals, etc are good. However, I find the front desk staff can be more helpful and can be more willing to walk an extra mile to help their customers.
Cons: Service. The front desk staff can be more helpful and can be more willing to walk an extra mile to help their customers. Examples (1) When I checked in, I asked one of the front desk staff if I could sign up any yoga class in gym close by, she said she would check for me but there wasn't any follow-up. (2) The night before I checked out, I asked the front desk staff to help me to call the next hotel if they can store my bag for a day or 2, the staff only gave me that hotel number but also gave me a look to tell me she was "annoyed". I did ask her why she couldn't help me to call, she didn't even explain. I can't take this kind of service standard from Andaz,
